Hockey makes a welcome return at Redditch’s Bromsgrove Road home

REDDITCH Hockey Club is excited to have relaunched its junior and senior training sessions from this week.

The club successfully started to reintroduce players safely back to hockey in June.

Following England Hockey and government guidelines, the Kingfishers introduced a number of small group, socially-distanced sessions, with strict guidelines for all ages to enjoy.

The take-up was fantastic, especially with younger players.

Guidelines from England Hockey changed again on August 24 and now allow groups of up to 30 players to train and the reintroduction of local games, whilst continuing to follow strict guidelines to keep everyone involved safe.

This has enabled Redditch Hockey Club to reintroduce full training calendar and matches.

Club Development Officer Adrian Young said: “We are really excited to be back on the pitch playing hockey again and looking forward to welcoming some new faces to our hockey family this year.

“We are so lucky to have our own pitch and clubhouse facilities onsite. This has meant that, with the help of our amazing committee of volunteers, we have been able to return to hockey quickly and safely under the new guidelines.”

Redditch Hockey Club is growing year on year, currently offering training opportunities for children aged five to 16, as well as senior men’s and ladies’ sessions.

There are four men’s, two ladies’ and one U16 development, U8, U10, U12 and U14 teams, all of which vary in ability and experience.

Any prospective new players need to register their interest with the club first before attending a session. Email [email protected].
