H‍ockey is a fantastic team sport… With a range of ways to play to suit individuals age, experience, ability, fitness levels and motivations. It’s perfect for children wanting to experience a fun, skilful, exciting sport in a safe, inclusive environment.

Here at Redditch Hockey Club we are really passionate about getting more young people involved in playing hockey. And we are working hard to make our vision of making hockey accessible to all a reality. Over the last five years we have developed our Junior offering and put a strong, experienced team of coaches and support volunteers in place.

We have increased our presence in local schools and the local community to help increase the visibility of the sport as well as the playing, development, and social opportunities for young people by keeping costs low and breaking down barriers to participation.

We are proud to say that Redditch Hockey Club is a friendly, safe and social environment for children of all abilities from the age of 5 up to 18 to play hockey in Redditch and we would love you to experience this by joining us and taking advantage of our FREE Taster Session offer.

Whether you’re new to the sport, love playing at school, or dream of becoming the next international superstar. We have lots of opportunities and development paths for you to come along and enjoy playing hockey in a friendly, safe environment. We are proud that a number of our junior players are involved in England Hockey’s Player Pathway at County and Regional level.

Training Sessions

Our sessions are led by Becki Clarke (Head Junior Coach). Becki is assisted by a dedicated group of senior coaches, current U18 and senior players and parent volunteers. The support they provide is invaluable in helping our juniors develop and have lots of fun along the way.

What do I need?

If you have your own stick, that is great. If not, don’t worry, we have equipment for children to borrow for as long as they need, and offer a RHC swap shop to help with the ongoing costs of equipment and club kit.

We ask for all players to come to training in suitable sports clothes, good gripping trainers (Astros are perfect), shinpads, gum shields and bring a drink.

Membership

We offer a range of different membership options and payment methods to suit all.

Playing

For our U8’s, U10’s U12’s and U14’s members we play in friendly monthly Worcestershire Mini tournaments on Sundays against other local clubs and arrange friendlies with other local teams.

For those that have progressed to our Badgers U16 11-aside team, the team play weekly games throughout the season Sept-Mar in a Badgers league.

In addition, often have Junior Intra-club games and social hockey sessions throughout the year. Please visit the relevant teams pages for more details.

Kit

Club teamwear is provided by KitLocker via our club shop (link to Club Shop). It is not mandatory for you to purchase any kit from the shop but a lot our Juniors choose a hoody or training top. If you do represent the club in games you will need a pair of red socks, white socks and navy shorts or skort. We will provide you with club playing shirts for games.
