Redditch Mens Seconds look unstoppable at the moment, and made it eight wins out of eight with an 8-0 win at home to Old Silhillians.
Adrian Young’s men were rampant again despite the appalling weather, and are now hot favourites for promotion.
Dave Baker opened the scoring in the ninth minute while Dean Farmer made it two with a goal within seconds of entering the action in the 17th minute after good work from Tim Gibbs.
Two minutes later and Lee Beeden further extended the lead after rolling out well and shooting past the visiting goalkeeper.
Redditch moved up a gear in the second half, scoring five more goals.
Beeden scored again while Dan Jakeman, Dave Pilkington, Bryan Melliard, and Alan Povey all grabbed goals, Jakeman’s effort in particular standing out after a superb run and clean strike from the top of the D.
Barry Fitzpatrick’s Mens Thirds continued their surge up the thirds league table with a tense 1-0 victory over Streetly.
In a close game, Redditch twice had stand-in keeper Paul Cowley to thank after making vital saves with Streetly attackers clear on goal.
But Jason Abbots was the difference between the two sides, firing home from a short corner mid-way through the first half.
And yet it could have been easier, with Redditch squandering a handful of chances to move further ahead.
But with Cowley proving unbeatable in goal, and the defence holding up well, Redditch hung on to move ahead of Streetly in the league and continue their recent good form.
Redditch’s Badgers lost 1-0 away at Hampton in Arden.
The home side controlled much of the first half and took the lead mid-way through it.
Redditch dominated the second period though and were unlucky not to at least scrape a draw, with several decent chances created.
