Redditch Ladies Two’s went down 3-2 at home to top of the league Harbourne Fifths on Saturday, despite a spirited performance.

The home side took the lead in the fourth minute, with Emma Lynch scoring after good play from Phil Williams.

But Harbourne came back, and Redditch had goalkeeper Stacey Cowley to thank after making a decent save on the line.

Redditch continued to come under pressure, and were twice rescued by Helen Rotherham making some strong tackles in the D when needed.

But the Redditch resistance finally gave way in the 21st minute when Harbourne launched an attack down the right wing, playing in an attacker who shot past Cowley to equalise.

Redditch then conceded twice in two minutes at the end of the half to go in 3-1 at the break despite matching their stronger opponents for much of the half.

The Kingfishers made a strong start to the second half, and pulled a goal back three minutes after the restart, Becky Butler finishing well after being played on by Fran Evans.

It was a strong second half performance, but the game could have been put out of reach ten minutes from time, only for Harbourne to hit the post.

But, despite a strong push forward in the final minutes of the game, the home side were unable to get the equaliser they would have felt they deserved.
