Redditch Mens Seconds remained top of the MRHA Second Team League West Midlands 1 after a hard fought 1-0 win away at Evesham.
Alan Povey was on target again with the last touch of the first half after a brilliant through ball from Pete Dawson, which cut the Evesham defence in half.
But in a game where Redditch should have scored many more goals, they had their defence and keeper Adrian Young to thank after keeping another clean sheet, despite some strong Evesham pressure.
Redditch Mens Thirds put last weeks 5-0 defeat behind them, with an assured performance at home to high flying Stafford, with a solid 4-1 win.
The game was as good as won in the first half, Ben Hyde opening the scoring, with Matt Davies and John Manison making it 3-0 by half time.
Delighted captain Barry Fitzpatrick asked the Reds to keep things together in the second half, and delivered with the visitors given no chance to make any inroads into Redditch’s lead.
Proceedings were wrapped up with less than ten minutes remaining when debutant Richard Randle scored from close range, hitting in the rebound after seeing his initial shot saved by the Stafford keeper.
The Kingfishers were denied a clean sheet, when with moments to spare, a rare Stafford break allowed them a consolation.
