Redditch Ladies Firsts put in a brilliant performance on Saturday, with an 11-0 win at home to Kings Heath Pickwick.

Such a win was not to be expected after a scrappy opening ten minutes in which play was centred firmly in the midfield.

But with the games first real effort on goal, Jasmine Leigh put the Reds 1-0 up in the 13th minute.

It was 2-0 five minutes later, Leah Healey taking on several defenders, passing to Angie Taylor who then found Anna Stafford who scored her first of three goals.

Healey then found the net following a short corner with a reverse stick shot.

Another short corner two minutes later allowed Anna Stafford to grab her second of the game.

Shortly after the break, Redditch were five ahead, with Olivia Laxton, Anna Stafford and captain Sara Horton combining well in midfield before Stafford crossed to Becky Southwell to fire home.

The only worrying moment for the Reds came shortly afterwards when Horton was struck on the hand by the ball, and despite some bruising, was able to continue after receiving treatment at the side of the pitch.

A scramble in the D in the 45th minute saw the ball run free to Kirsty Stafford who shot to add her name to the ever expanding score sheet.

Three minutes later, Leigh grabbed her second of the game after being spotted by Lindsay Morris.

Leigh thought she’d grabbed a hat trick only two minutes later, but her effort was ruled out after the ball hit a Redditch foot on the way into the goal.

Redditch went eight ahead shortly afterwards, Sharon Smith next to add her name to the score sheet after more good work from Morris.

Anna Stafford completed her hat trick in the 54th minute, and Angie Taylor sent Redditch into double figures after Stafford turned provider, crossing the ball high to Taylor, who shot with the ball still hovering in the air.

Smith then completed the demolition with five minutes remaining after receiving the ball from Taylor.

Redditch now move up to fifth in the Worcestershire Ladies Hockey League Division One, and are now top scorers in the league.

Redditch Ladies Twos were less fortunate and lost 3-1 away at local rivals Bromsgrove, with Becky Butler grabbing the goal for the Reds.
